You may go to…
www.eastaustinstudiotour.com
to find out more info about the artists and a map to see where all 154 studios are located.
Its spread out so be prepared to drive, walk or bike. Austin Yellow bikes are available at Cafe Mundi.
What is a yellow bike you ask?
Its a free bike that you may use for this event !
check out http://www.austinyellowbike.org
for more info.
It is a kid friendly event.
This is the 8th edition of EAST and the 6th year of the tour.*

Niz was born in Lima, Peru. She came to the United States for the first time when she was 4 before finally moving to the San Francisco Bay Area when she was 12 years old. Niz’s career as an artist began with educating at-risk youth in California through murals, fliers and zines that were infused with street art and grit. . Her involvement and passion for graffiti, skateboard and other subcultures like hip hop, reggae and punk rock led her to creating art on skateboards and grip tape in 2003. Around the same time, she also began experimenting with stencil art.
Her most recent accomplishments include a gallery show at SOMarts Gallery in San Francisco and painting at the Graffitti hall of Fame in Puerto Rico. This year, her work has been published in 3 books: Stencil Nation (San Francisco), Heart and Soul (New York) and 400ml. Do It Yourself (France) and several magazines, including Concrete Wave and Lucy Magazine. Niz resides in Austin, TX

East Austin Stories is a collaboration between University of Texas film students and community residents, business people, patrons, and passers-by in East Austin. Stories have power when they are shared. The stories are a personal and community resource and a bridge between people locally as well as beyond the city’s borders. The University of Texas students look for people and places with stories, craft them into video, and then present them back. There are two major guidelines to the class. The stories must originate or connect to communities in East Austin and the stories will be played back in pubic screenings in East Austin.

It’s pretty much what you think it is. Email us pictures of your homes and a good ol’ fashioned poll will determine the winner. The pictures can be of either the interior or the exterior of the house, but we need at least three pictures of the interior.

We are going to be rounding up as many donated prizes as we can from our favorite East Austin locales. If you guys know of any that would be interested in sponsoring a prize, please send them our way! For now, we need to run a poll to see exactly how many people are interested in participating in this contest. Any house on the East of I35 and west of 183 is eligible. Also included is anyone East of Airport on the West side of I35.
